As part of a series released by Road Champs in 2001, Ronin was 1 of 9 licensed BattleBots made for the Battle Basher range. It is based on the Season 2.0 version of Ronin, due to the vertical disc and track mounted sponsors. Like the other Battle Bashers, if the robot has been hit hard enough or a certain button is pressed, parts of the body will "explode." In the case of Ronin, the center of his body lifts up a bit. The treads have a metal bar connecting them, acting as support for the friction motor, leaving the treads molded into the plastic unlike on the real robot but the flags at the back are also removable along with the part that aids in connecting the belt for the weapon in the middle of the toy.
The way this toy "explodes" is probably based on the way the actual Ronin's design allowed the main body to pivot when attacked, keeping the tread pods on the floor.
