Mauler was one of six BattleBots competitors released as part of the Metal Mechanics line of construction kits released by Jakks Pacific.
The kit was specifically based upon Mauler 51-50, the Tilford family's entry for Season 3.0. The toy features two unpowered drive wheels and a brushed motor which power the iconic spinning top seen on all iterations of Mauler once two AA batteries have been installed.
Though the main chassis of Mauler's toy is made from plastic, the spinning top is made from authentic metal. The kit features plastic teeth attached to the spinning top via metal rings. These mimic Mauler's flails when the finished robot is switched on. Once built, the kit includes numerous stickers to decorate Mauler's chassis, though the spinning top comes already decorated.
A handle is also included, to allows for Mauler to be operated from a safe distance with its weapon active. This slots into the back of Mauler and also allows for the toy to be switched off without touching the moving parts.
