Not to be confused with the UK Robot Wars heavyweight of the same name.

Mace

Mace in the arena at the 2004 NPC Charity Open.

Mace was a Hobbyweight robot built by MIT Students (Going by the team name Red Dawn) that competed at the 2004 NPC Charity Open. It was a silver, two wheeled, invertible robot. Mace was supposed to be armed with two tiny vertical spinning bars, however for whatever reason these were not added to the robot in time, and the robot entered the event weaponless.

Mace was also an incredibly tiny robot even by Hobbyweight standards, and this combined with its lack of active weaponry resulted in it doing poorly in the competition, as it lost both of its fights. Mace would continue competing in various events, always to no success until 2006 when it was retired.

War Drums tosses Mace

Mace is tossed by War Drums.

After receiving a bye in the first round Mace's first opponent was VBT12. This fight started with VBT12 coming out of its square, and flipping Mace several times before sending it flying. This caused Mace to stop moving, and Mace tapped out. This loss put Mace in the loser's bracket where it faced War Drums.

As soon as this fight started Mace was only able to move in circles, this allowed War Drums to come in, and send it flying. War Drums then slammed into the wall before delivering another blow to Mace, this time flipping it. War Drums continued doing this several times until it got another hit, this time ripping the right wheel off of Mace. War Drums then delivered a final hit to Mace, sending it flying once more, before Mace tapped out. This loss meant that Mace was eliminated from the competition.
