Happy Scrappy Hero Pup was a middleweight robot built by Team Scrounge Lizards which competed in Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots, as well as BattleBots IQ 2002.

It was a four-wheeled rectangular-shaped robot armed with a powerful, horizontal spinning disc. Weighing 10lbs and made from aluminum, the disc would reach up to 3000rpm. However, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup did not perform well in Season 5.0, losing its first and only battle to Edge.

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup later participated in the very first BattleBots IQ tournament where it did slightly better, winning one fight, and sharing the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award.

Team Scrounge Lizards previously fought in Season 4.0 with middleweight Deus Ex Machina. Despite picking up a win over Adult Supervision is Required, it lost its next preliminary fight to Misty the WonderBot.

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup vs. WhirlWind

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup returned for the inaugural BattleBots IQ competition, where it took on WhirlWind in Round 1 of the tournament. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup's first match at this event was against WhirlWind. Due to a faulty speed controller, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup started this match with only half of its drivetrain working. Despite essentially being handed an easy win, WhirlWind got its thwacking arm high centered on the spike strips, and was counted out giving Happy Scrppy Hero Pup the win by knockout.[1]

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup vs. Defenestrator

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup's next opponent was Defenestrator. Again, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup started this match without half of its drive. As a result of this, it could not turn quickly enough to get its weapon into play, and Defenestrator promptly lifted it onto the spikestrips. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup managed to damage its own frame with its weapon, and unable to free itself from the spikes, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup was promptly counted out.[1]

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup vs. Kobotsu

In the loser's bracket, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup took on Kobotsu. For this all-important fight, Team Scrounge Lizards had fixed their robot's drive problems. However, the robot's spinning disc was still in safety mode and, as a result, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup went into this match without its primary weapon. Kobotsu took full advantage of this oversight, flipping Happy Scrappy Hero Pup twice with its drum before stranding it against the spikestrip again. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup was counted out, and eliminated from the competition for good.

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup returned for one of five consolation rumbles at the end of the tournament. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup had fully functioning drive but the shafts on one side of its drivetrain soon slipped. This was followed shortly after by the power leads slipping on the one functioning motor. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup was still able to move around the BattleBox, albeit with limited control. In spite of this, it tore a large piece of armor from HammerRoyd before ripping a hole in the 1/8" steel armor of Reaver. It ultimately lost to Gatorbot and Reaver, who moved on to the Royal Rumble.[1]

Season 5.0[]

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup vs. Edge

Happy Scrappy Hero Pup returned for Season 5.0 of the televised show, first being drawn against Edge. Edge won by knockout, however, and Happy Scrappy Hero Pup was eliminated from the tournament.
