Not to be confused with the similarly-named BattleBots IQ competitor, Gatorblade.

Gator, originally Gatorbot, was a middleweight robot built by Team Gators which competed in three BattleBots IQ events in 2002, 2004 and 2005.

It was a two-wheeled, wedge-shaped robot covered with green and white scale decorations to resemble an alligator. Gatorbot's invertible design allowed it to run both ways up, but it was also armed with a lifting weapon. Post-competition, Gatorbot won its Consolation Rumble alongside Reaver, but lost the Grand Rumble overall to Kaibosch.

Under the name Gator, the team are known to have fought at BattleBots IQ 2004 as well, mentored by Donald Hutson of Mutant Robots fame, but its results are not known.[1] The same is true of its involvement in the 2005 event, short of a known loss to Mass Destruction.

Gatorbot vs. Playbot

After receiving a bye through Round 1, Gatorbot's first opponent in the bracket was Playbot. It lost this fight by judges' decision, however, and immediately fell into the loser's bracket.[2]

Gatorbot vs. FLIP

Now in the loser's bracket, Gatorbot took on FLIP. It lost this battle too and was eliminated from the tournament.

Gatorbot returned for BattleBots IQ 2004 under the shorter name of Gator. Gator was the first opponent for Titanium Knight, and it took the win by 18-27 judges' decision after using its steel front to shear their opponent's teeth.

Gator vs. ?

The rest of Gator's opponents remain unknown. However, it did not place in the Top 4, meaning it lost twice at some stage in the competition due to the event's double elimination format.

BattleBots IQ 2005[]

Gator vs. Titanium Knight

Gator also fought in BattleBots IQ 2005, where it first faced Mass Destruction. It lost this fight and fell into the loser's bracket, but its other opponents are unconfirmed.
