Claymore was a lightweight robot which competed in the final three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was a white (silver in its debut appearance) gas-powered toothed shell spinner, styled like a mouse in its later two appearances. It performed decently in competition, reaching the round of 128 in its last two seasons.
Claymore was likely named after the mine explosive, hence the round design and glowing lights on top.
After BattleBots, Claymore competed in RoboGames 2008 where it went 1-2 before going back into retirement.
Robot History[]
Season 3.0[]
Claymore was scheduled to fight Recycler, but Claymore had to forfeit the match due to technical issues. Recycler won by default and Claymore was eliminated from the tournament.
Season 4.0[]
Claymore's first match was against RoboMisDirection. Claymore had a shaky start, going up on edge and starting to dance instead of spinning up, and getting pushed by RoboMisDirection. But as soon as it recovered and spun up, it was all Claymore's fight. The spinbot smashed RoboMisDirection apart in relatively few hits, leaving a crumpled mass behind. Claymore did dent its dome a bit by hitting into the wall a few times, but Claymore won the match by KO and advanced to next preliminary round, where it faced Serial Box Killer.
Without even touching anything, Claymore got up on edge and began to wobble around as it spun up. Serial Box Killer took the opening and rushed across the BattleBox to hit Claymore. Serial Box Killer stayed on Claymore and pushed it, not letting Claymore spin up. Eventually, Claymore's fuel line disconnected, leaving it defenseless. Serial Box Killer pushed it around the box easily, though Claymore did strike back a bit, Serial Box Killer's drive had a momentary glitch and Claymore shoved it into the spike strip, where it got stuck. However, Serial Box Killer was saved by the bell, and the match went to the judges. Serial Box Killer won on a close 24-21 judges' decision and Claymore was eliminated from the tournament again.
Season 5.0[]
In its first match, Claymore was scheduled to fight A.W.O.L.. However, A.W.O.L. has forfeited due to technical issues, Claymore won by default and advanced to fight Lobotomizer. During the match, Lobotomizer took heavy damage from Claymore's spinning shell, getting its spike cracked open, its right front wheel torn off, and its wedge torn off. It also got a huge chunk of the upper frame ripped out, leaving its electronics exposed. Sometime afterwards, Lobotomizer either tapped out or stopped moving and was counted out, Claymore won by KO and advanced to fight The Cast-Iron Pig. The Cast-Iron Pig won the match and Claymore was eliminated from the tournament once again.
Claymore rips the wedge off of Lobotomizer during Season 5.0.
