Balronic Wedge was a middleweight robot built by Team Ultra which competed at the inaugural BattleBots IQ competition in 2002.
It was a four-wheel drive, invertible robot with a wedge at the front. Balronic Wedge also featured fins to prevent it getting stuck on its side. Though part of its name derived from its weaponry, the etymology of 'Balronic' is unknown.
Balronic Wedge enjoyed a strong start to the competition, winning its first two battles. After losing its next two, however, it fell out of the double elimination competition and could not escape its consolation rumble at the event of the event. The robot did not fight again in BattleBots.

Balronic Wedge vs. Defenestrator Advancing to the third round of the Winner's Bracket, Balronic Wedge now took on a flipper in Defenestrator. It lost this battle, and fell into the loser's bracket as a result. |
Balronic Wedge vs. Whambulance Entering the loser's bracket in the third round, Balronic Wedge fought a vertical spinner in Whambulance. It fell short in this battle too, and was officially eliminated from the competition. |
Balronic Wedge vs. Nightstalker vs. Wut vs. Kaibosch vs. South High School BattleBot vs. Playbot vs. FLIP vs. Deborah vs. Gatorblade Balronic Wedge returned for the end-of-competition consolation rumbles, where it took on eight other robots, including a rematch against Nightstalker. However, Kaibosch and Deborah advanced into the Grand Rumble and this proved to be Balronic Wedge's final fight. |
