Edge, also known as The Edge, was a middleweight robot built by Team UI, which competed in Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots as well as two BattleBots IQ events.
It was a four-wheel drive, invertible robot which featured individual drive motors for each axle. In the absence of kinetic weaponry, Edge used its drive power and wedge shape as its main offensive output.

On its debut in Season 5.0, Edge performed very well in competition, winning three battles in the middleweight division before losing to Red Square in the Round of 64. Under the name The Edge, it competed in the inaugural BattleBots IQ tournament during the same year, losing in the finals to Wee Willy Wedgy but winning the Most Aggressive Robot Award. The Edge also returned for the 2003 event, which was its last after captain Marc DeVidts was then outside the age range for BattleBots IQ competitors.
Edge's builder, Marc DeVidts, also built Vault for the unaired 2009 Pro Championship, along with the middleweight spinner Icewave and its heavyweight counterpart for the reboot seasons.

Outside BattleBots[]
Edge would continue to fight outside of BattleBots, sometimes competing under the name The Edge 2.2.
It fought in events such as Robocide 2003 in Orlando, Florida as well as Motorama in 2004.

The Edge vs. Angry Kitchen Appliance The Edge's first opponent in this competition was Angry Kitchen Appliance. This fight was completely dominated by Edge, with it slamming the lighter, and smaller Angry Kitchen Appliance into the walls. Edge won by a judges decision, and advanced to the next round. |
The Edge vs. Scorpion Next up for The Edge was Scorpion. This fight started with both robots charging at each other and missing. Scorpion then got to the center of the BattleBox, and started spinning up. Instead of charging straight at its highly dangerous opponent, The Edge simply waited for it to stop spinning before charging straight at it. The Edge then slammed Scorpion into the wall, and shoved it around for most of the match before finally getting Scorpion under the pulverizers which bent its frame into one of its battery connectors. Scorpion managed to escape, but drove into the spikestrip and The Edge quickly pushed Scorpion back under the pulverizers, where it stopped moving, and was counted out giving The Edge the win by KO. |
The Edge vs. AXis This put it into the next round where it faced AXis. This fight started with The Edge box-rushing AXis, which was already up to full speed. One of AXis' weapon heads dealt a glancing shot to the front of The Edge's but broke off, destabilizing the machine and forcing the team to run it at low speed for the rest of the fight. The Edge took advantage of this, and slammed AXis all over the arena before shoving it into the spike strips within a minute of the match starting. AXis managed to get under The Edge, and slammed it into the wall. However, in doing so, AXis suffered damage as it suddenly stopped moving. The Edge then managed to shove AXis under the pulverizer just as the time ran out on the clock. The Edge won the resulting judges' decision, and advanced to the next round. |
The Edge vs. Karl The Edge now faced off against Karl. Not much is known about this fight. The Edge and Karl shoved each other back and forth until The Edge managed to get Karl under the spike strips a minute into the fight. The impact from this knocked loose one of Karl's master power wires, and it was counted out giving The Edge another win by KO. This win put The Edge into the quarter-finals where it faced PlasticBot. |
The Edge vs. PlasticBot The Edge's next opponent came in the form of PlasticBot. Although PlasticBot was able to dominate The Edge early on, Marc DeVidts' bot eventually managed to get around to its side, and high-center PlasticBot on the spike strips where it was counted out. This gave The Edge its second knockout win in a row and a place in the final four. |
The Edge vs. Wee Willy Wedgy   The Edge gets slammed into the spikestrip by Wee Willy Wedgy. Now in the semi-finals The Edge fought Wee Willy Wedgy. This was a close match with The Edge flipping Wee Willy Wedgy a few times, as well as taking it to the wall once, and Wee Willy Wedgy shoving The Edge into the hazards several times. The Edge lost on a close 25-23 judges' decision, and was now in the losers bracket finals. |
The Edge vs. PlasticBot In this stage of the competition, The Edge faced PlasticBot for a second time. This fight was largely repeat of their previous encounter, with PlasticBot dominating early on before The Edge shoved it onto the spike strips for a KO. This win put The Edge into the finals where it drew another rematch. |
The Edge vs. Wee Willy Wedgy   The Edge fighting Wee Willy Wedgy for the championship. The Edge advanced to the the title decider, where it met Wee Willy Wedgy again. The rematch largely consisted of both bots trying to get each other and jockeying for position for the entirety of the match. The Edge lost on a very close 24-23 split decision, and was declared runner-up of the first BattleBots IQ tournament. |
The Edge vs. Defenestrator vs. Karl vs. E2 vs. PlasticBot vs. Wee Willy Wedgy vs. Whambulance The Edge returned to participate in a Consolation Rumble at the end of the tournament against seven other robots. Alongside Wee Willy Wedgy, The Edge was declared victorious and moved into the final rumble. |

Edge vs. Happy Scrappy Hero Pup Edge's first match was against another returning BattleBots IQ competitor, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup. Edge won by KO and advanced to the next round. |
Edge vs. Cratos and Bia In the next preliminary round, Edge faced Cratos and Bia. Edge won this fight by knockout as well, so moved on to the next round. |
Edge vs. 64 Wedge Next up for Edge was 64 Wedge. Both robots were being aggressive and using their wedges effectively. At one point, 64 Wedge's front wedge hit a seam in the BattleBox floor, knocking the robot upwards, bending the front wedge and slowing 64 Wedge down. So the driver simply hit the robot's inversion switch and drove backwards. This fixed the problem, and the match resumed normally. Eventually, the fight ended and Edge won on a close 23-22 split judges' decision and advanced to the TV rounds. |

Trivia[]
- With a total record of nine wins and three losses, Edge is the most successful BattleBots competitor representing Louisiana, where driver, and builder Marc DeVidts was attending college at the time.
- Home video footage of Edge's chassis being tested was later aired in the first episode of World Championship I, during a VT segment on Marc DeVidts and the modern heavyweight version of Icewave. In this, the robot performed various driving tests before ramming, knocking over and pushing a trash can across a nearby street.
- The aforementioned footage mentions that a swinging 'scorpion tail' was once suggested for Edge, with the intent of allowing it to hit opponents while spinning in a similar manner to traditional sit-and-spin designs.
