Chunk was a middleweight robot built by a group of students at California Polytechnical State University in San Luis Obispo, California, with assistance from Team Coolrobots' Christian Carlberg. It was a yellow two-wheeled robot armed with a vertically-spinning bar and a rear wedge. Its spinning bar was salvaged from Knee-Breaker. It participated in the 2009 BattleBots collegiate championship, where it won its first fight but lost its second.

Chunk's first match of the tournament was Bear Punch. Both robots came out and Chunk hit Bear Punch hard, flipping it over and bending a drive axle. Bear Punch was not able to drive much as Chunk continued to attack and was eventually tossed out of the arena. Chunk advanced to the 2nd preliminary round where it faced Triton.

Triton opted to go with its front plow. As the match began, both robots were tentative with Chunk making only minor contact. Chunk got in two more hits before losing tension to the belts that connect its weapon, causing its weapon to stop. Chunk continued to come at Triton but was unable to mount any successful attack. Triton took advantage by getting underneath Chunk as Chunk opted to use its rear wedge and pushed it up on top of the screws with seconds left in the match.
